Thanks to Eater LA, I was able to attend Plate by Plate 2014, the annual Project by Project fundraising benefit, on a media pass. The event article I wrote for Eater LA is up: Please check it out! (Incidentally, the progression of the photographs in the article is, for the most part, in reverse chronological order, for some reason.)
My photos for the article focused on capturing the event’s ambiance and its participants, but I still had plenty of “food porn” fodder for my Instagram feed. Below are a just few of my favorite shots from the evening.

From Sally Camacho Mueller at the Jonathan Club:
Probably the most in-demand “dish” of the night was Scratch|Bar‘s ambitious four-course restaurant-within-an-event, which I’ve dubbed Tastin’ception, in the VIP area:
Scratch|Bar won Best Dish of the event with the above, while Harlowe won Best Drink with the following:
While my trusty iPhone 5s took all of the shots above, I did have use of a “real” DSLR camera for the event, and I took a few shots with that as well:

Thanks to Matt Kang of Eater LA for lending me his DSLR–if I could afford one, I could definitely get used to shooting with one–and also for this opportunity to cover Plate by Plate 2014! Check out more shots of the event on my Instagram feed!
Update: For more coverage of the event, check out Darin Dines and The Actor’s Diet… and kevinEats’ extensive recap is up!
