Upcoming: LA Loves Alex’s Lemonade & An Evening on the Beach

One of my favorite events falls in early September, when fatigue from LAFW and The Taste is just settling in–#foodworldproblems, I know.  But this event, LA Loves Alex’s Lemonade, I would have to say is possibly my favorite each year, and it’s happening this Saturday, September 9th!

Benefitting Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, LALAL (as the cool kids call it) came about after Suzanne Goin & Caroline Styne (a.o.c., Lucques, Tavern, the Hollywood Bowl now even), and Suzanne’s husband David Lentz of Hungry Cat, went to Philly to help chef Marc Vetri with his fundraiser years ago, and decided to start their own, now in its 8th year!

The amount of talent, both from Los Angeles and across the country, is astounding.  I’m not even going to try to name them.  Go check out the list of participating chefs/restaurants, and you’ll see!  And the food is top notch.  I’ve been posting some flashback posts to my IG:

And you can see more on IG with hashtag #offalolemonade.  Just to give you a taste of what you might be in for if you buy tickets.  Since it is a fundraiser, the tickets are a bit on the spendy side at $195, though $95 is tax deductible.  And kids 12 and under are free with accompanying adult!

Less than a week after Alex’s Lemonade is another event that was new to me before (and took place earlier in the summer last year) is happening on Thursday, September 14th.  Dubbed An Evening on the Beach, this event benefits the St. Vincent Meals on Wheels program, which started 40 years ago, serving meals to the homebound.  The chefs for this event are not as numerous, and much more local, than Alex’s Lemonade, but they are some of the best chefs, and/or represent some of the best restaurants in LA.  They include Angelini Osteria’s Gino Angelini, Bestia’s Genevieve Gergis, Felix’s Evan Funke, Michael’s Miles Thompson, Ricebar’s Charles Olalia, and Wexler’s Deli’s Micah Wexler, to name a few.  Tickets are $185.  Check out my coverage of last year’s event, and here were a few of my favorite bites:
