There are so many events, that many fly under my radar. I totally missed a pretty big one that’s happening this weekend that should have been in the last post, so I thought I’d throw it in here:
Saturday, October 1st – The Eat Show: Not sure how I missed this one, with the line-up it has, including Aqui es Texcoco, Fogo de Chao, Halal Guys, Komodo, Restauration, Seoul Sausage, Tentenyu, and more! Tickets are $50/$90 for GA and VIP (early entry & swag bag), respectively, and there’s a lunch session and a dinner session.
Picking up from the end of the last post, here are some food events for the rest of October…
Saturday, October 15th – Taste of Mexico: This event gathers a who’s-who of Mexican and Mexican-American chefs and restaurants from the greater L.A. area and beyond, including Ceviche Project, El Coraloense, Guerrilla Tacos, Salazar, and more! Tickets are $65/$85 for GA and VIP (w/early entry), respectively. Check out my favorite bites from last year at L.A. TACO.
Saturday, October 15th – Taste of Washington West: A relatively new event, just in its second year, this self-described block party features restaurants on or around the stretch of Washington Boulevard in Culver City, featuring A-Frame, Corner Door, Hatchet Hall, Rockenwagner, Sunny Blue, and more! Details haven’t been fleshed out yet (hopefully soon) but keep an eye on their website for more info.
Sunday, October 16th – The Food Event: The third of the major L.A. publications’ food event (along with the Weekly’s The Essentials and the Times’ The Taste), this one by Los Angeles Magazine may be the most elegant, set in the beautiful Saddlerock Ranch in Malibu. Four culinary experts will, um, be expert-ing it up: Brendan Collins (Birch), Marcel Vigneron (WOLF), Ted Hopson (The Bellwether), Valerie Gordon (Valerie Confections). Participating restaurants include Erven, Jitlada, Little Sister, Love & Salt, Maple Block, Miro, Petty Cash, Playa Provisions, Scopa, Terrine, and The Cannibal. Tickets are $125.
Saturday, October 22nd – CrabFest: The annual fundraiser for JACCC (Japanese American Cultural & Community Center) is headlined by Starry Kitchen and features their Singaporean chili crab but prepared with easier to consume snow crab legs. Tickets are $75/$90 for advanced sales or at the door, respectively.
Events to look for in November and December: Baby2Baby (Nov. 12th), Sips & Sweets (Dec. 2nd), and I’m sure there’s more! Let me know if I’ve missed any major events happening between now and the end of the year!
