Somehow October’s food event game has picked up from past years–though it is the month when I once did five festivals in one weekend, so maybe it’s always been a busy month. There are so many events I had to split my upcoming food event post in three (early, mid, late) for October. So without further ado:
Today! Saturday, September 30th – Crawfish for Cancer: I had just heard about the event from a friend, and even though it’s in still September, I figure I’d include it. It’s for a great cause, benefitting the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. Tickets are $90 if purchased online up until noon (or maybe 1 PM, I can’t tell from the EventBrite page), or $100 at the door, for (I believe) all-you-can-eat crawfish, fixins, beer, wine, etc. Starts at 2pm on the Santa Monica Pier!

Wednesday, October 4th – #LACHEFSUNITE: Next Wednesday, chef Wolfgang Puck is inviting 19 other top L.A. chefs, including Nancy Silverton, Walter & Margarita Manzke, Ray Garcia, Suzanne Goin, Michael Voltaggio, Roy Choi, Jeremy Fox, and more, to join him at the Hotel Bel-Air for a fundraiser to help folks in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Florida, and Texas. Tickets are $500 and all proceeds go to Global Giving to help people in areas affected by recent storms and earthquakes.
Friday, October 6th – James Beard Foundation’s Taste America Los Angeles Dinner: This annal series of events has the respected culinary organization touring the nation hosting dinners across the country. The L.A. event takes place at Vibiana and includes a cocktail reception with food from Felix, Maude, Kismet, Shibumi, and Howlin’ Ray’s, followed by a dinner by James Beard Award winning chef Barbara Lynch, Michael Cimarusti, and Shannon Swindle. Tickets start at $300.
Sunday, October 8th – Special Olympics SoCal’s Pier Del Sol: Celebrating it’s 20th year, this long time fundraiser features restaurants such as Clementine, Hache LA, Melisse, Providence, Terroni, Wexler’s and more! This year’s honoree chef, who has participated in Pier Del Sol since the beginning, is Gino Angelini of Angelini Osteria. Tickets are $175 for adults and $75 for kids (5-12) and includes unlimited rides wristband for Pacific Park, the amusement park on the Santa Monica Pier.
Upcoming events in mid/late October: Off the Hook on Saturday the 14th Brunch at the Races on Sunday the 15th, The Food Event on Sunday the 15th, March of Dimes’ Signature Chef Auction on Sunday the 15th, Eastside Food Fest on Sunday the 22nd, Los Angeles Times’ The Gold List on Monday the 23rd, Taste Talks from Friday the 27th to Sunday the 29th, and more!
